A Transparent and Secure Scholarship Solidarity Program for University Students Begins

With its newly launched Golden Future Project, Bornova Municipality aims to provide transparent and secure scholarship support for successful university students residing in Bornova who struggle to continue their education due to financial difficulties. Coordinated by the Golden Bracelet Employment Center, the project enables scholarships to be transferred directly to students by volunteer donors, while the entire process is monitored by the municipality. Mayor of Bornova Ömer Eşki emphasized that the project is a significant investment in the future to ensure young people do not drop out of education.

The “Golden Future – Equal Opportunity in Education for Bornova’s Youth Project,” implemented by the Bornova Municipality Golden Bracelet Employment Center, offers hope to university students who face challenges in sustaining their education due to financial hardship. The project is being launched as a strong model of social solidarity aimed at supporting academically successful students living in Bornova who are at risk of discontinuing their education because of rising living costs, housing problems, and insufficient family income.

Local Solidarity Against Dropping Out of Education

Today, many university students struggle to continue their studies despite academic success, due to difficulties in accessing housing, transportation, and basic needs. The Golden Future Project was designed to ensure that young people can continue their educational journey without losing their potential. Through this initiative, the business community, civil society organizations, and volunteer residents of Bornova are brought together within a shared network of solidarity.

A Transparent, Secure, and Sustainable Scholarship Model

In accordance with legal regulations, Bornova Municipality will not make any direct cash payments. Instead, the municipality will manage a transparent, secure, and sustainable matching and coordination process between donors and students. Scholarship funds will be transferred directly by volunteer donors into students’ bank accounts. Donors and recipients will remain anonymous to each other, while the entire process will be monitored and reported by the municipality. This ensures both the protection of students’ privacy and the reliability of the support mechanism.

Mayor Eşki: “This Is Not Just a Scholarship, It Is an Investment in the Future”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki underlined that the Golden Future Project goes beyond financial aid, stating:

“We do not want any young person in Bornova to abandon their education due to financial difficulties. Golden Future is more than a scholarship project; it is the embodiment of solidarity, justice, and belief in a shared future. Every contribution to education is an investment in a stronger, more hopeful, and more productive Bornova. We will continue to stand by our young people.”
