Two Cities Explore New Cooperation Areas from Education to Sustainability

Bornova Municipality hosted Białystok Mayor Tadeusz Truskolaski and his accompanying delegation from Poland as part of efforts to strengthen sister city relations. During the visit, the two cities discussed potential collaborations in education, sustainability, and culture. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki presented Bornova’s ongoing work on digital transformation and environmental sustainability, while Mayor Truskolaski emphasized that the friendship between the two cities will continue to deepen.

The meeting focused on developing social, cultural, and academic partnerships between the two municipalities.

Education, Research, and Sustainability in Focus

The delegation, coordinated by Bornova Municipality, met with Yaşar University and local institutions to explore joint project opportunities in education, research, and sustainability. Topics such as climate-friendly city management, digital transformation, and cultural heritage preservation stood out during the discussions.

Mayor Ömer Eşki guided the delegation through the Smart City Management and Innovation Center and Abide-i Hürriyet Square, sharing insights into Bornova’s “Digital Twin” Project. He also delivered a presentation about Bornova’s history, its cultural ties with the Turkic world, and its unique geographical values.

Expressing his pleasure at the visit, Mayor Eşki stated that Bornova is committed to strengthening its sister city relationship with Białystok through concrete actions:

“As Bornova Municipality, we aim to establish a more inclusive, innovative, and sustainable partnership network with our sister city Białystok. We are actively working on environmental protection and recycling projects. At the same time, we are taking significant steps to promote Bornova’s historical heritage and iconic products such as the Homeros Valley and Bornova Misket Grape to the world.”

Białystok Mayor Tadeusz Truskolaski expressed his belief that the collaboration would benefit both cities:
