Strict Inspections by Municipal Police and Agriculture Teams in the Historical Bazaar

Following the rise in food poisoning cases across Türkiye, the Bornova Municipality Municipal Police Department and the Bornova District Agriculture Directorate intensified inspections, checking businesses in the Historical Bazaar for hygiene and licensing compliance. Businesses operating under improper conditions were warned, and necessary legal actions were taken. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the health of Bornova residents is a red line, stating that inspections will continue without interruption.

Teams from the Bornova Municipality Municipal Police Department and the Bornova District Agriculture Directorate have increased inspections throughout the district after the recent nationwide surge in food poisoning incidents. In the Historical Bazaar—one of Bornova’s busiest areas—businesses were thoroughly checked for both food hygiene and licensing suitability.

Warnings and Legal Action for Non-Compliant Businesses

During the inspections, restaurants, cafés, cafeterias, and other food-producing or food-selling businesses were examined one by one. Businesses found to be violating production or storage standards were warned, while those failing to correct deficiencies faced legal sanctions.
The teams carried out detailed checks on staff hygiene, food storage temperatures, expiration dates, and cleanliness of work areas.

Mayor Eşki: “The Health of Bornova Residents Is Our Red Line”

Mayor Ömer Eşki noted that the rise in food poisoning poses a threat to public health and stated:
“The health of Bornova residents is our red line. We are determined to ensure that all businesses in the district comply with the necessary standards. There will be zero tolerance for those failing to meet hygiene requirements. These inspections will continue uninterrupted to protect our citizens and to strengthen proper production practices among our tradespeople.”

Bornova Municipality announced that periodic inspections will be intensified across all businesses in the district, with continuous controls especially in areas involving mass food consumption. Teams will maintain both an informative and disciplinary approach to ensure compliance with hygiene rules.
