3,000 Students Received Meals, Program to Expand Across the District

On the first day of the new academic year, Bornova Municipality distributed meals to 3,000 students studying at three schools located in disadvantaged areas. The menu included items such as simit (gevrek), ayran, cake, fruit juice, helva, and milk-based desserts, all sourced from the Municipality’s Kent Markets and Kent Restaurants. Mayor Ömer Eşki announced that the program will soon expand to cover all schools in the district, from kindergarten to high school.

Bornova Municipality stood by students as the new school year began, ensuring that children in need received proper nutrition. Products from Kent Markets and Kent Restaurants were prepared and distributed, including simit, cake, fruit juice, helva, and milk desserts.

“Food Is Just as Important as Education”

Highlighting that equal opportunity in education is their top priority, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated:
“It is just as important that our children are not hungry while focusing on their studies as it is to provide them with educational materials. We will not allow any child in Bornova to go hungry. We will continue to stand by every student and invest in their future.”

Distributions Will Continue Three Days a Week

The meal program did not stop after the first day. The same schools will also receive distributions on Wednesdays and Fridays. Starting in the coming weeks, Bornova Municipality will extend the initiative to schools across the district, providing meal support for all students, from kindergarten to high school.
