Bornova Municipality’s Eros Cat Clinic has become a vital health center for stray animals by neutering 1,901 cats and performing dozens of surgical and treatment procedures within just four months of its opening. Thanks to its modern equipment, expanded staff structure, and the absence of limited examination hours, the clinic’s service capacity has doubled. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the clinic symbolizes both the determination to protect the right to life and Bornova’s vision of being an animal-friendly city.

Named after Eros, the cat who was brutally killed in Istanbul and left a deep wound in the conscience of all Türkiye, the Eros Cat Clinic was opened by Bornova Municipality as a strong statement against violence. In a short period of time, it has become a frequent destination for animal lovers in Bornova and surrounding areas. Operating under the Veterinary Services Directorate, the modern clinic has neutered a total of 1,901 cats and carried out numerous surgical and treatment procedures in just four months.

Hundreds of operations in four months at a modern clinic

Located across from the former clinic in Büyükpark, at the intersection of Fevzi Çakmak Street and Gençlik Street, the Eros Cat Clinic has, during the same period, successfully performed 19 eye surgeries, 49 tooth extractions and dental cleaning procedures, and 13 surgical interventions. In addition, healthcare services for 4,700 cats previously treated at the old clinic are now continuing in the new center under safer and better-equipped conditions.

1,901 cats neutered: Capacity doubled

Within four months, a total of 1,901 cats—1,618 female and 283 male—were neutered at the clinic. With the new facility, the neutering capacity has doubled compared to the former clinic. The absence of restricted examination hours has also enabled faster and more accessible services for stray animals.

The clinic employs a total of 11 staff members, including 3 veterinarians, 3 veterinary technicians, and support personnel. Its institutional operation, high hygiene standards, and modern medical equipment have earned widespread appreciation from animal lovers.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stressed that the Eros Cat Clinic is not only a healthcare facility but also carries a strong social message, stating:
