Education Time for a Sustainable Future in Bornova

16 October 2025

A Strong Step from Children for Environmental Awareness

Bornova Municipality has launched training programs for parents to raise environmental awareness. At the event, children wearing colorful costumes made from recycled materials joined their mothers to deliver meaningful messages about sustainability.

The Bornova Municipality Directorate of Climate Change and Zero Waste initiated the parent-focused education program to promote environmental awareness. The event, held at the Altındağ Atatürk Cultural Center’s Civil Society Organizations Hall, brought together children and parents for a sustainable future.

During the event, children took the stage wearing vibrant costumes created from recycled materials, spreading eco-friendly messages. To encourage reduced plastic use, reusable bottles were gifted to the children, while parents received organic compost and fertilizer products. Experts gave presentations on waste management, composting, and adopting sustainable habits in daily life.

“We Will Transform the Future Together”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of developing environmental awareness from an early age, saying:
“A sustainable Bornova and a nature-friendly future can only be achieved together with our children and their families. Every small step taken by an individual makes a big difference for our future. As Bornova Municipality, we act with this awareness.”

Mayor Eşki also noted that similar training sessions will be expanded in the coming period, with environmental workshops designed for all age groups to continue raising awareness across the community.
