Directorate of Women and Family Services
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Bornova Municipality Directorate of Women and Family Services is responsible for carrying out and implementing the services defined by the Municipality Law No. 5393, within the framework of the applicable legislation and guided by the Strategic Plan of Bornova Municipality, in accordance with the principle of a social state as stated in the Constitution of the Republic of Turkey.
It develops and implements projects in cooperation with public institutions and organizations, non-governmental organizations, professional chambers, associations and foundations operating in the field of women and family services, and universities. Within this scope, the duties of the Directorate of Women and Family Services are as follows:
a) Based on the relationship between gender equality and freedom, to support women in improving and protecting their social status in line with their identified needs and demands, helping them resolve problems, meet their needs, and empower them in all areas of society.
b) To establish a women's shelter as a protective measure for women, children, and family members who are exposed to or at risk of violence, and to prevent violence against them.
c) To coordinate the provision of services by collaborating with institutions and organizations that wish to support the directorate’s activities and to develop joint projects.
ç) To organize promotional and educational events related to the units of the directorate and to prepare or have prepared visual and audio materials for these purposes.
d) To ensure cooperation in line with the duties assigned to municipalities by Article 76 of the Municipality Law No. 5393 and the Regulation on City Councils.
e) To follow current discussions and developments; to participate in workshops, trainings, meetings, and similar events at national and/or international levels and to share institutional knowledge and experience.
f) To ensure coordinated and active work of all units under the directorate.
g) To take responsibility for implementing gender equality — a fundamental right — across all areas of the municipality’s responsibilities and to actively work toward integrating it into all plans, projects, and activities while preventing all forms of discrimination.
h) To set goals that ensure the preparation of the municipal budget based on gender equality and that municipal revenues and expenditures are structured in a way that promotes gender equality.
ı) To ensure gender equality is observed at all stages of decision-making processes and to carry out activities to socialize preventive reflexes against violence, abuse, harassment, and rape.
i) To identify social behaviors, practices, and legal regulations that negatively affect women due to gender inequality and to work primarily on changing these at the local level.
j) To conduct field research to identify women's issues and to develop solution-oriented projects.
k) To collaborate with institutions and organizations working in the field to make women's labor visible, increase female employment, and support women’s cooperatives and entrepreneurship.
l) To take measures to improve women’s access to resources, effective participation in working life, and equal benefit from opportunities and services.
m) To organize educational programs and take preventive measures on topics such as the protection of families, women and children, prevention of violence against women and children, women's human rights, children's rights, gender equality, women’s health, and similar areas.
n) To distribute a one-time "Welcome Baby" support package for newborn babies (0–6 months old) who have newly joined the family.
o) To establish and operate play and activity centers for children in areas within the district where need and demand have been identified, when deemed appropriate.
p) To ensure the implementation of decisions made by the Personal Data Protection Committee regarding the activities and operations of the directorate.
r) To submit application forms prepared by the directorate and petitions requested from individuals for pre-approval by the Personal Data Protection Committee in accordance with the Personal Data Protection Law.
s) To carry out periodic reviews and data destruction processes for personal data stored in physical files and digital systems.
ş) To monitor and implement the actions and efforts carried out within the scope of the internal control system.
Children’s Play and Activity Centers
