Directorate of Veterinary Affairs

🐾 Bornova Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate

Operating under the Bornova Municipality, the Veterinary Affairs Directorate fulfills its duties in line with the principles and provisions of Law No. 5199 on the Protection of Animals. Its main mission is to ensure the welfare of stray animals, protect their right to life, and support their harmonious coexistence with society.

Our directorate serves with a philosophy that respects the right to life of all living beings—especially stray animals—and conducts health care, treatment, rehabilitation, and sterilization processes in accordance with scientific and ethical standards.

📄 Job Description

Main Duties and Responsibilities

Under the responsibility of the Bornova Municipality Veterinary Affairs Directorate, the Can Dostlar Campus in Pınarbaşı—our shelter and rehabilitation center—provides sterilization, vaccination, and treatment services for stray dogs collected from the streets. Afterward, all necessary care is provided to ensure they live healthy lives.

The center also handles the sterilization, vaccination, identification (marking), and treatment of stray cats either brought in by citizens or collected from the streets. Once treated, cats are returned to the areas from which they were taken.

Additionally, a separate cat clinic operates in Bornova city center, located in Büyükpark. This clinic provides sterilization, vaccination, and treatment services for stray cats brought in by animal-loving citizens. In this facility, no overnight treatment is provided; all procedures are carried out on a same-day basis, and cats are returned to their original environment once they recover.

All services are carefully planned and implemented to ensure animals live in a safe, healthy, and stress-free environment, with close attention to their ethological (natural behavior-based) needs.
