Duties and Areas of Activity

● In line with the strategic goals of the municipality, monitors, develops, and prepares international funding sources (such as the European Union, United Nations Development Programme, etc.).

● Manages and coordinates projects that are eligible for financial support and carries out the necessary reporting.

● Contributes to the effective management of relations with international organizations of which Bornova Municipality is a member, ensures that relevant units are informed, and supports institutional participation in related activities and events.

● Ensures the development of existing relationships and the establishment of new ones between our municipality and international institutions, organizations, and entities. In this context, organizes all activities related to cooperation, representation, and participation.

● Contributes to the monitoring and evaluation of contemporary examples, models, experiences, programs, and projects related to municipal activities.

International Networks We Are a Member of — Our Sister Cities




· Bornova Municipality has established sister city relationships with 15 cities from 11 different countries, thereby strengthening international cooperation.

· Within this scope, projects are developed especially with sister cities in North Macedonia and Bulgaria to preserve the cultural ties of the Rumelian immigrants living in Turkey; joint activities are conducted with the sister city in Azerbaijan based on historical and cultural connections; and events that reinforce social and cultural solidarity are organized with the sister city in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

· The Bornova Municipality Directorate of Foreign Relations is currently working on initiating sister city relationships with Prizren in Kosovo and Sumqayit in Azerbaijan.
