Directorate Of Cleaning Services

DIRECTORATE OF CLEANING SERVICES

Job Description:
Within the boundaries of Bornova Municipality, the management of household solid waste is carried out, including the collection and transportation of solid waste, street sweeping, bagged construction debris collection, sewer unclogging and vacuum truck services, as well as various urban cleaning activities.

Departmental Areas of Activity:
Household Solid Waste Collection Service:
The collection, transportation to disposal sites, and sweeping of household solid waste from squares, boulevards, avenues, and streets within the borders of Bornova district, as well as the maintenance and cleaning of garbage containers, are carried out by our Directorate in accordance with the legislation and a defined plan and schedule.
Approximately 10,000 garbage containers used within Bornova are regularly checked to ensure they remain in proper and hygienic condition. Two container washing vehicles are used for cleaning and disinfecting the containers. Broken containers are repaired, painted, and put back into use.
Additionally, our mobile repair team performs on-site minor container repairs (e.g., wheel replacement, handle repairs, etc.). In order to prevent traffic obstruction and constant relocation of containers, designated spaces are created on sidewalks for container placement.
Our cleaning teams also collect old household items (sofas, couches, beds, quilts, etc.) left beside garbage containers or on streets, which cause visual and environmental pollution. If residents report such items, our teams collect them directly from the address.

Bagged Construction Debris Collection Service:
Construction debris resulting from minor home renovations or repairs, provided they are bagged and each bag does not exceed 30 kilograms, is collected from residences for a fee.

Issuance of Container Compliance Certificates:
For residents within the boundaries of Bornova Municipality who wish to obtain a new occupancy permit or use permit for buildings, our Directorate issues container compliance certificates based on on-site inspections upon request.

Sewer Unclogging and Vacuum Truck Services:
Sewer unclogging and vacuum truck services are provided by our Directorate to residences and workplaces for a fee. Requests for these services must be communicated via phone to the Bornova Municipality Communication Center during working hours.

Evaluation of Complaints Related to Household Solid Waste:
All written and verbal complaints and requests submitted to our Directorate are evaluated through on-site inspections and resolved accordingly.
