Bornova Municipality organized a dental screening for students of Tülay Aktaş İşitme Engelliler Okulu as part of World Hearing Day on March 3. The students also visited Yeşilova Höyüğü, discovering İzmir’s 8,500-year history on site. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of equal access to health and cultural opportunities for all children.

Under the supervision of their teachers, the students were examined by a dentist and informed about oral and dental health. The event was not limited to the health screening. Later in the day, the students visited Yeşilova Höyüğü—an archaeological site that dates İzmir’s known history back 8,500 years—embarking on a journey into the city’s past.

Meeting History: An 8,500-Year-Old Heritage

During the guided visit, students learned about the excavations carried out at Yeşilova Höyüğü and the discoveries made there. The educational and enjoyable trip gave students the opportunity to witness İzmir’s deep historical roots firsthand.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the importance of the event organized for World Hearing Day, stating:
