Mayor Eşki Emphasizes the Republic’s Values to Young People

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki met with newly joined members of the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD) İzmir Branch at Dramalılar Köşkü, emphasizing the importance of civic organization and upholding the values of the Republic. Expressing his commitment to supporting young people, Eşki said, “My door is always open to you.” ÇYDD Bornova Branch Chair Aslı Tamtürk stated her satisfaction with the participation of the young members and emphasized their efforts to carry Atatürk’s principles and reforms into the future.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki came together with the newly joined young members of the Association for Supporting Contemporary Life (ÇYDD) İzmir Branch at Dramalılar Köşkü. Highlighting the importance he places on youth participation in civic organization, Eşki conveyed the message: “My door is always open to you.”

Mayor Eşki: “We need you to uphold the Republic”

Speaking to the young participants, Mayor Ömer Eşki said:

“I come from within the processes of civic organization myself. For me, the most important civil society organizations are the Atatürkist Thought Association (ADD), ÇYDD, and the Association of Families of Martyrs and War Veterans. Beyond these, I am not deeply involved in any other democratic mass organization. Because to keep our Republic standing, we need ADD and ÇYDD. I have been in the same places where you stand now. In this sense, you are our pride. We all have responsibilities to help you become stronger, more independent, and able to build a freer world—and we are working to fulfill them. We are here to carry Atatürk’s reforms into the future. Not only as your mayor but also as an elder brother, my door is always open. You are welcome to come to us with any need, to talk or seek advice. We are glad you are here.”

Aslı Tamtürk: “We are stronger together with young people”

ÇYDD İzmir Branch Chair Aslı Tamtürk expressed her pleasure in welcoming the new young members:

“I am very happy, especially because our Mayor Ömer Eşki, who was also active in youth organizations, is here with us. For democratic mass organizations like ours, cooperation with local administrations and the presence of young people are extremely valuable. We work to carry Atatürk’s principles and reforms into the future and to disseminate them widely once again. We are aware of the challenges you face; the feedback you provide guides our work. It is incredibly important for young people to take an active role in democratic civic organizations. As someone who was involved in student communities during my university years, I still feel the positive impact it has had on my life. The friendships formed through shared values last for years.
