Cleaning Work Duties

Garbage generated within the borders of Bornova is collected daily, and garbage on main routes is collected twice a day.

Our municipality's urban cleaning service is carried out with 33 Hydraulic Compression Garbage Trucks, 3 Multi-Purpose Garbage Trucks, 3 Mini Dumper Garbage Collection Vehicles, 2 Dumper Trucks, and 13 Transit vehicles.

Squares, boulevards, main streets and avenues are swept and cleaned with 10 road sweeping vehicles and sweeping workers. Places where sweeping vehicles cannot enter are swept by sweeping workers. Main roads are swept every day, and side roads are swept according to the program.

Approximately 9769 garbage containers we use within the borders of Bornova are constantly checked to ensure they are always solid and healthy, washed and disinfected with 2 container washing vehicles, and broken containers are repaired, painted and put back into use. In addition, our mobile repair team intervenes in the containers on site and performs small-scale container repairs (wheel replacement, repair of container handles, etc.). In order to prevent the containers from disrupting traffic on the roadsides and to prevent constant relocation, pockets are made on the sidewalks for the containers.

Old household items (chairs, sofas, beds, quilts, etc.) that are left haphazardly next to garbage containers and on the streets and avenues and cause visual and environmental pollution are collected by our cleaning teams. If such items that garbage trucks cannot pick up are reported to us, they are immediately collected free of charge.

Drain opener and sewer truck services are provided by our Directorate. Drain opener and sewer truck services are provided free of charge to official institutions and organizations, and for a fee to residences and workplaces. Requests for drain opener and sewer truck must be submitted to our Directorate by phone during weekdays during working hours.

Debris resulting from minor renovations and repairs made by citizens in their homes are collected with 4 Dump Trucks, 2 Dump Trucks, and 2 Rubber Wheeled Backhoe Loaders. Provided that the debris is bagged and 1 sack does not exceed 30 kg, up to 100 bags of debris waste are collected from addresses for a fee.

In accordance with the Zero Waste Regulation, in order to recycle the waste collected separately from household waste at the source, that is, by the producers, in homes and workplaces, to restore it to nature and to minimize the amount of waste, within the scope of the studies we carry out in our district; Waste Medicines, Waste Vegetable Oils, Textile Clothing Waste, Waste Batteries, Waste Electrical and Electronic Materials are collected separately with 1st Class Waste Collection Centers, Mobile Waste Collection Centers and waste bins located at different points.
