Purchase of 9 New Vehicles Approved Unanimously by the Municipal Council

At Bornova Municipality’s March Regular Council Meeting, the purchase of nine new vehicles through the State Supply Office to strengthen the fleet of the Department of Cleaning Affairs was unanimously approved. Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the decision was made in line with the goal of a cleaner and more sustainable Bornova and emphasized that recycling efforts will also be reinforced.

The March Regular Council Meeting of Bornova Municipality was held at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center Council Hall under the chairmanship of Mayor Ömer Eşki. During the meeting, the agenda item concerning the reinforcement of the Cleaning Affairs Directorate’s vehicle fleet was unanimously adopted.

Vehicles That Have Reached the End of Their Service Life Are Being Replaced

In line with the joint report prepared and unanimously approved by the Legal, Planning and Budget, and Transportation Commissions, it was decided to replace certain garbage trucks and open-bed double-cabin pickup trucks that have completed their service life in order to ensure municipal services are carried out more effectively and efficiently.

Accordingly, as included in Table T of the 2026 budget, the municipality will purchase five 8-cubic-meter capacity garbage trucks and four open-bed double-cabin pickup trucks—intended for collecting bulky waste—through the State Supply Office. A total of nine new vehicles will be added to the Cleaning Affairs Directorate’s inventory.

Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that strengthening the vehicle fleet is a significant step toward achieving a cleaner city, emphasizing that environmental policies are not limited to cleaning services alone.

Eşki noted that the municipality aims to institutionalize a sustainable understanding of cleanliness in Bornova by expanding recycling practices, ensuring the regular collection of bulky waste, and increasing environmental awareness.

The new vehicles are expected to enhance service speed in neighborhoods and make bulky waste collection processes more systematic and efficient.
