İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç’s First Stop Was Bornova

CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç carried out a series of visits in Bornova as part of the fieldwork initiative launched under the slogan “We Are Building the People’s Power!” Hosted by Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, the program brought together CHP İzmir Member of Parliament Ednan Arslan, local tradespeople, and representatives of civil society organizations to listen to citizens’ concerns. During the visits, the importance of direct public engagement and producing solutions on-site was emphasized. The intensive program concluded with a meeting in which Mayor Eşki presented the municipality’s two-year achievements to CHP district chairs.

A Strong CHP Presence in Bornova

Following CHP’s decision on May 4 to launch field activities under the slogan “We Are Building the People’s Power!”, CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç held his first program in Bornova. CHP İzmir MP Ednan Arslan also joined the visits.

The program included Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, CHP Bornova District Chair Ertürk Çapın, İzmir Metropolitan Municipality CHP Group Deputy Chair Yağmur Yurdakul Özkan, former CHP Secretary General and former MP Kamil Okyay Sındır, as well as municipal council members.

Presentation of the Smart City Vision

The first stop of the program was the Bornova Municipality Smart City and Innovation Center. Mayor Ömer Eşki delivered a presentation on Bornova’s digital twin project.

Eşki stated:

“We are building a Bornova strengthened by technology. We prioritize digital transformation both to provide faster services to our citizens and to use our resources more efficiently.”

Meeting with Civil Society and Tradespeople

The delegation later met with Bornova Chamber of Tradesmen and Craftsmen President Aziz Talas and then visited Atatürkçü Düşünce Derneği Bornova Şubesi Chair Mübeccel Timaç.

During visits to shops in Bornova Bazaar, the delegation went from business to business listening to citizens’ concerns. The Bornova Cretan and Population Exchange Association and the CHP Bornova district organization’s tent at the entrance of the historic bazaar were also visited.

“We Are in the Field, Together with the People”

CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç stated:

“As the Republican People’s Party, we are in the field and together with our people. Through this process that we have launched from İzmir, we will continue to listen to our citizens’ problems on-site and produce solutions.”

CHP İzmir MP Ednan Arslan added:

“At a time when economic difficulties are increasing, standing by our tradespeople and citizens is our most important responsibility.”

Comprehensive Evaluation Meeting at the End of the Day

At the conclusion of the program, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki addressed CHP İzmir Provincial Chair Çağatay Güç and CHP district chairs from across İzmir during a meeting held at the Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan Cultural Center.

Eşki delivered a comprehensive presentation on the projects, investments, and initiatives implemented during his two years in office. The meeting covered a broad range of topics, from social municipalism to digital transformation in Bornova, while also outlining goals for the upcoming period.
