“National defense is a supra-political issue”

CHP Deputy Chair responsible for National Defense Policies, Yankı Bağcıoğlu, explained the party’s national defense policies at a panel held in Bornova, emphasizing a transparent, accountable, and strong defense approach. As part of the program, Bağcıoğlu visited the Smart City Management and Innovation Center together with Ömer Eşki and received information about technological initiatives related to disaster preparedness. He also met with the district organization and citizens, and presented membership badges to new party members.

Yankı Bağcıoğlu, Deputy Chair of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) responsible for National Defense Policies and a member of the Central Executive Board, shared the party’s national defense vision during his engagements in Bornova. Throughout the program, which ranged from panel discussions to field visits, Bağcıoğlu met with both party members and citizens.

“A strong defense is only possible with a transparent and accountable system”

Speaking at the panel hosted by Bornova Municipality at Dramalılar Mansion, Bağcıoğlu emphasized that national security lies at the core of CHP’s defense policies. He stated that the defense industry should not only be strong but also fair, transparent, and accountable, adding:
“National defense is a supra-political issue. We must produce rational, sustainable, and institutional policies in this field.”

“Defense policy is a guarantee of social security”

Bağcıoğlu highlighted that national defense policies encompass not only military matters but also social security and crisis management in a holistic manner. He noted that CHP adopts an approach based on merit, institutionalization, and transparency, and stressed that cooperation with local governments is an essential part of this process.

Bağcıoğlu also answered participants’ questions during the panel, offering a comprehensive perspective on CHP’s defense policies.

Full marks for Bornova’s “Digital Twin”

As part of the program, Bağcıoğlu also visited Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, accompanied by CHP Presidential Candidate Office members Andaç Pamuk and İbrahim Yılmaz. The delegation toured the Smart City Management and Innovation Center established by Bornova Municipality and received information about the “digital twin” project. Mayor Eşki explained the warning and coordination systems developed especially for disasters such as earthquakes and fires, stating:
“We use technology not only for comfort but also for the safety of our citizens.”

Meeting with the district organization and citizens

During his visit to Bornova, Bağcıoğlu also stopped by the CHP Bornova District Presidency, where he met with District Chair Ertürk Çapın and party members. Later, at a stand set up at the entrance of the Historic Bazaar, he met with citizens and emphasized the importance of organization by presenting badges to new party members.
