“The Solution to the Economic Crisis Lies in the Social Projects of CHP Municipalities”

CHP Deputy Chair Özgür Karabat visited Bornova for the opening of the Kent Butcher Shop, where he examined on site the social projects implemented by Bornova Municipality over the past two years and met with citizens and local tradespeople.

After visiting the Kent Market, Kent Garden, Kent Restaurant, and the Smart City Management Innovation Center, Karabat emphasized that CHP-run municipalities stand by the people in the face of the economic crisis and thanked Bornova Municipality and Mayor Ömer Eşki. Mayor Eşki stated that, with their social municipal approach, they leave no one alone in Bornova.

CHP Deputy Chair Özgür Karabat came to Bornova to attend the opening of the Kent Butcher Shop established by Bornova Municipality in Kızılay Neighborhood. During his visit, he examined the projects implemented by the municipality over the past two years and met with residents. Emphasizing that CHP municipalities are producing solutions to Turkey’s economic difficulties through a social municipalism approach, Karabat expressed his appreciation to Bornova Municipality and Mayor Ömer Eşki.

Program Began with Party Organization Visit

As part of his Bornova program, Özgür Karabat also visited the CHP Bornova District Organization, where he met with Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, CHP Bornova District Chair Ertürk Çapın, and party members. In his remarks, Karabat stated that CHP will certainly come to power in the next election, called on party members to continue their struggle, and presented membership badges to new party members.

Tour of Social Municipalism Projects

Within the scope of Bornova Municipality’s social projects for those in need, Karabat first visited the Celal Altınay Kent Market in Bornova Center, examined the products, and spoke with residents to hear their views on the project.

He then visited the EVKA-4 Kent Garden, the largest urban garden in Turkey, where women cultivate winter and summer vegetables using entirely natural methods and local seeds on parcels allocated to them free of charge. Speaking with the women producers, Karabat emphasized the significant economic and social value of such initiatives.

Economy Dominates the Marketplace Agenda

Karabat also visited the Kızılay Neighborhood Kent Restaurant, where citizens can eat four types of hot meals at affordable prices. He later toured the Atatürk Neighborhood Marketplace together with Mayor Ömer Eşki, speaking with tradespeople and residents and listening to their concerns about economic hardship. During these visits, Karabat highlighted that CHP municipalities are fulfilling an important responsibility through social projects that make life easier, especially for low-income citizens.

Bornova’s Digital Twin

Karabat also visited the Smart City Management Innovation Center, implemented by Bornova Municipality as part of its digital transformation efforts. At the center, described as Bornova’s “digital twin,” he conducted on-site inspections. Mayor Ömer Eşki provided Karabat with a comprehensive presentation, explaining how smart city applications enable more efficient use of resources and faster delivery of municipal services.

Following the visits, Özgür Karabat stated that CHP municipalities stand with the people in the face of Turkey’s deepening economic crisis and said:

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that they see social municipalism as a fundamental responsibility, stating:
“Unfortunately, the economic conditions in our country are becoming increasingly difficult for our citizens every day. As Bornova Municipality, we are working to ensure that no one is left alone. Through our social projects, we both contribute to the tables of low-income citizens and strengthen solidarity.
