Children receiving education at Bornova Municipality’s Child Play and Activity Centers took the stage as part of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day celebrations, presenting dance and music performances. The young participants received great admiration for their shows. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the event is highly valuable for children’s self-confidence development.

Children aged 3–5, attending the Child Play and Activity Centers operating in 10 different locations across Bornova, experienced the excitement of performing on stage during the April 23 celebrations. The performances were held at the Ayfer Feray Open-Air Theater in Büyükpark and organized in two separate programs based on age groups.

In the first group’s performances, shows such as “Takunya Song,” “Cici Kızlar Delisin,” “Anadolu Ateşi,” and “Memleketim” were presented. Children from different neighborhood centers received great applause for their dance and music performances. In the second program, featuring younger children, colorful performances like “Melek Song,” “White Rabbit,” “Zeybek Song,” and “Hayat Bayram Olsa” were successfully staged.

Mayor Eşki: “This stage is the beginning of their self-confidence journey”
Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki watched the event together with families and shared the children’s excitement. Stating that they are working to ensure children grow in safe environments, Eşki said:
“We witnessed a beautiful scene here that truly reflects the spirit of April 23. The smiling faces of our children made us all happy during these difficult times. I hope we can create a better world for all children and protect them from all harm. I sincerely thank everyone who contributed. Introducing children to the stage at this age is very valuable for their self-expression. In these centers, not only play but also self-confidence and a culture of sharing are developed.”

Final with the İzmir March
At the end of the performances, all children gathered on stage and sang the İzmir March while holding Turkish flags. The emotional finale was recorded by families on their mobile phones, capturing these special moments.
