Mayor Eşki: “We are raising our children in touch with nature”

In Bornova, young students planted winter vegetable seedlings and sowed various seeds in their school gardens with the support of Bornova Municipality. The project, aimed at encouraging children to bond with the soil and consume natural products, will continue in other schools as well. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that raising children in close contact with nature is a source of hope for the future.

Students from a private primary school in Bornova planted winter vegetable seedlings in their school gardens. In the activity organized by the Agricultural Services Directorate of Bornova Municipality, the students planted cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, red cabbage, celery, and lettuce seedlings. They also sowed seeds of cress, lettuce, and dill.

Natural products, healthy future

The goal of the initiative is to promote the consumption of natural products among children, encourage their interaction with soil, and increase environmental awareness. Such activities are planned to be expanded to different schools in Bornova in the coming period.

Highlighting the importance of the project, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“It is very valuable for our children to plant seedlings with their own hands and build a connection with nature. Our main aim is for them to learn healthy nutrition, protect nature, and understand the value of production. We will continue this project in schools across our district.”
