“Broom Team” on Duty in Bornova

5 July 2025

Detailed cleaning to be carried out in two neighborhoods every day

Bornova Municipality has launched a new initiative to improve the quality of cleaning services across the city and provide a healthier living environment. As part of this cleaning drive, which started under the slogan “Two Neighborhoods Every Day”, 10-person broom teams from the Directorate of Cleaning Services will carry out detailed cleaning work in two neighborhoods each day.

With the goal of leaving no street untouched, these teams will meticulously collect trash, leaves, dust, and debris as they move through every street and avenue of the neighborhoods. The first stop of the initiative was Mevlana Neighborhood. This comprehensive cleaning effort will rotate across all 45 neighborhoods, continue uninterrupted six days a week (except Sundays), and will be made a permanent practice.

Mayor Eşki: “A clean Bornova, street by street”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the new cleaning program is important not only in terms of environmental hygiene but also for urban aesthetics and public health. He said:
“With our broom teams, we will leave no street untouched in two of our neighborhoods each day. We see this effort not just as cleaning, but also as an issue of urban awareness and quality of life. Together, we will continue to work street by street, neighborhood by neighborhood, to make Bornova a cleaner and more livable city.”

Mayor Eşki also highlighted the importance of public support for the cleaning efforts:
“We share this city together; we can keep it clean together. A clean Bornova is the responsibility of all of us.”
