Hands-on Ecology Education at the Urban Garden

Bornova Municipality hosted students from Pınarbaşı Güzelcan Secondary School at the Pınarbaşı Urban Garden and the municipal nursery, providing hands-on education on production processes, plant cultivation, and ecology. The students observed the growth of winter vegetables on site and learned about plant production. At the end of the event, the children were presented with books from the “Ecological Children’s Life Guide Series.”

Bornova Municipality welcomed students from Pınarbaşı Güzelcan Secondary School to the Pınarbaşı Urban Garden, offering an educational experience closely connected with nature. Experts from the Directorate of Agricultural Services explained how the urban garden operates and shared information about the production and educational activities carried out there. Winter vegetables grown in the garden—such as cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, celery, lettuce, spinach, and red cabbage—were introduced, enabling students to closely observe plant growth processes.

Hands-on Plant Production at the Nursery

As part of the program, the students visited the nursery of the Directorate of Parks and Gardens. Plants produced at the nursery were introduced, and the plant production process was demonstrated in practice. Municipal teams provided comprehensive information by explaining how landscaping works across Bornova are shaped using plants grown in these nurseries.

Ecology Talks and Educational Book Gifts

Throughout the event, interactive and enjoyable discussions were held with students on ecology, biodiversity, and nature conservation. At the end of the program, the children were gifted books from the “Ecological Children’s Life Guide Series,” prepared by Bornova Municipality.
