Bornova Showcases Its Future at IEF
The “Three Transformations” Vision Draws Great Interest in the Heart of the City
Bornova Municipality Impresses Visitors at the 95th Izmir International Fair with Technological Investments, Green Solutions and Cultural Heritage Models
Bornova Municipality is bringing its technological and cultural investments, reflecting its vision of “Green, Digital and Urban Transformation,” together with visitors at its stand at the 95th Izmir International Fair (IEF). Featuring an interactive Digital Experience Room and hybrid Smart Pole models, as well as employment interviews and creative workshops for children, the Bornova Municipality stand is set to become one of the fair’s most popular attractions through September 13.
The 95th Izmir International Fair (IEF), hosted by Izmir Metropolitan Municipality, has once again brought technology, the environment and art together in the heart of the city. Bornova Municipality, one of the fair’s most prominent participants, is attracting a steady stream of visitors with its stand located in the Uzun Havuz area at the Kulturpark Lausanne Gate entrance. The stand, where Bornova’s green, digital and urban transformation initiatives are presented through interactive models, offers a unique fair experience for both children and adults.
Smart Technologies and a Sustainable Future Come Together
Visitors to the Bornova Municipality stand are first welcomed by visionary projects shaping the future of the district. The Digital Experience Room introduces visitors to the city’s three-dimensional digital twin applications, while models of high-tech investments such as environmentally friendly Smart Poles, which generate hybrid energy, showcase the architecture of the smart cities of the future. A prototype of Turkey’s largest Urban Garden, featuring sustainable agricultural practices, is also attracting significant attention as one of the most natural examples of green transformation.
In the areas of cultural and urban transformation, the stand also features models of landmark sites such as Abide-i Hürriyet Square and TRNC Park, which have been brought into Bornova’s urban culture, as well as the Al-Aqsa Mosque, rising in Sarnıç Village and becoming one of the district’s new symbols.
Mayor Eşki: “We Are Making Bornova a Pioneer in Science, Nature and Culture”
Speaking to visitors at the Bornova stand, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki shared the following remarks regarding the municipality’s participation in the fair and its vision:
“At the 95th Izmir International Fair, we are showcasing not only the present of Bornova, but also its future. Since the day we took office, we have promised to develop our city through a shared vision centered on green, digital and urban transformation. The Smart Pole prototypes, Digital Experience Room and Urban Garden we are exhibiting here are small-scale models of the sustainable living ecosystem we are building in Bornova. Our goal is to instill recycling awareness in our children, bring our young people together with technology, and transform Bornova into Izmir’s innovation center. While protecting our cultural heritage, we are building a Bornova that moves forward in the light of science. We invite all our fellow citizens to our stand at the Lausanne Gate to become part of this major transformation.”
