Three flagship projects to represent Bornova across Türkiye

Under the leadership of Mayor Ömer Eşki, Bornova Municipality is bringing its vision for urban, green, and digital transformation to the national stage. Decisions approved during the July Ordinary Municipal Council Meeting will see three landmark projects that are shaping Bornova’s future compete in some of Türkiye’s most prestigious municipal innovation competitions.

The July Ordinary Meeting of the Bornova Municipal Council was held at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center Council Hall under the chairmanship of Mayor Ömer Eşki. During the session, two key proposals submitted by the Mayor’s Office were unanimously approved by the council members. As a result, Bornova Municipality will showcase its Urban Gardens, Digital Twin, and Bornova Heritage projects—each representing the municipality’s commitment to green, digital, and urban transformation—on the national stage.

Mayor Ömer Eşki recalled that since taking office, the administration has pledged to transform Bornova through three strategic pillars: urban renewal, environmental sustainability, and digital innovation. He emphasized that these projects will position Bornova as a guiding "North Star" for local governments across Türkiye.

Three major projects for the Healthy Cities Association Competition

Bornova Municipality will participate in the 2026 Healthy Cities Best Practice Competition, organized by the Healthy Cities Association of Türkiye, with three innovative projects that have transformed both the city's physical landscape and its social fabric. Following the council's approval, Bornova is preparing to showcase its achievements at the national level.

A green approach to social equality

Competing in the "Contribution to Social Equality and Inclusion" category, the Urban Gardens Project has been bringing residents together with nature since September 2024. While encouraging urban agriculture, the initiative also strengthens social solidarity and promotes equal access to shared community spaces.

Bornova leads the way in smart cities

The Digital Twin Project, which will compete in the "Smart City" category, has been enhancing municipal efficiency since 2025. By creating a digital replica of the city, the project enables data-driven planning and smarter decision-making for the future of Bornova.

Preserving the past for future generations

Representing Bornova in the "Culture, Arts, and Sports Activities" category, the Bornova Heritage Project has been protecting and promoting the city's historical, cultural, and artistic assets since 2024, ensuring they are passed on to future generations.

Bornova’s digital innovation heads to the IT Stars Competition

Going beyond simply adapting to technological change, Bornova Municipality is also taking part in the IT Stars 2026 Domestic and Original Project Competition, organized by the Turkish Informatics Association.

With the approval of the second council motion, the municipality’s Digital Twin Project, developed as a fully domestic and original software solution, will compete in the field of smart city technologies. Mayor Ömer Eşki was unanimously authorized to officially represent Bornova Municipality throughout the competition process.

The three projects unanimously approved by our council today will not only shape Bornova’s future but also serve as a model for local governments across Türkiye. We are confident that we will return from both the Healthy Cities Association and Turkish Informatics Association competitions with awards, proudly representing Bornova on the national stage.
