Bornova Municipality hosted a meaningful nature-themed event at Sevgi Grove in the Pınarbaşı neighborhood as part of March 21 World Down Syndrome Awareness Day. Within the scope of the project—where special children planted pine saplings with their own hands—it is aimed to add a total of 100 saplings to the area.

Held to promote environmental awareness and social sensitivity, the event brought together children with Down syndrome and local officials in a warm and emotional atmosphere. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki joined the children in planting saplings at Sevgi Grove, located on 7405 Street in Pınarbaşı. The activity offered participants both joyful and heartfelt moments.

A Goal of 100 Saplings from Pure Hearts to Nature

Approximately twenty children who receive education and actively participate in social life through the Temiz Kalpler Down Syndrome Association took part in this special event. While the children enjoyed spending time in nature and strengthening their social integration, the project aims to plant a total of 100 pine saplings in the area.

A Message of Inclusivity from Mayor Eşki

Emphasizing that they always support disadvantaged citizens and will continue to expand inclusive social projects, Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that being together with the children is very meaningful for them. Highlighting the healing power of nature, he said:

“Today, we are not only planting saplings in the soil, but also sowing the seeds of love, solidarity, and hope. On the occasion of World Down Syndrome Awareness Day, we are making our Sevgi Grove even greener together with our special children. The pure smiles on their faces mean everything to us. With this spirit of love, we will continue to make Bornova a more livable and greener city together.”
