Longstanding Parking Problem to Be Solved with a New Road and Parking Area

Bornova Municipality has launched a long-awaited parking and road improvement project requested by residents of Erzene Neighborhood. Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the vacant lot next to 19 Mayıs 1919 Şehit Yavuz Dinler Park, where paving work is nearing completion, to inspect the site alongside his technical team.

Dusty Lot to Become a Thing of the Past as Erzene Gains a Modern Look

Bornova Municipality continues to accelerate infrastructure investments aimed at improving quality of life across the district. A vacant plot on 33rd Street in Erzene Neighborhood, which had remained unused and unpaved after nearby construction projects were completed, is being transformed into a modern parking area through intensive work by municipal teams.

Residents have long complained about dust during the summer and mud during the winter. Once the asphalt paving is complete, the area will have a clean, modern appearance while helping meet the neighborhood’s parking needs.

A New Route Opens Up, Easing Congestion on Local Streets

The project involves more than just building a parking area. A section designated in the zoning plans but previously closed to traffic is also being converted into a road in accordance with the approved plans. This new route will improve traffic flow in the area.

Moving vehicles that are irregularly parked in the middle of streets into an organized parking area will improve pedestrian safety and make it easier for emergency vehicles, including fire engines and ambulances, to pass through.

“Dust Complaints Will End and Traffic Will Flow More Smoothly”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected the site alongside the relevant department heads as asphalt paving got underway. Highlighting the project’s strategic importance for the neighborhood, he said:

“For a long time, residents have had serious complaints about dust caused by the unpaved land left behind after construction in the area was completed. Our teams have now extended their comprehensive renewal work across Erzene Neighborhood to this location. We are eliminating the disorder here completely. In line with the zoning plans, we are turning this area into a properly organized parking lot. We are also converting the section that has been closed to traffic into a road, opening up a new route for transportation.

“This will allow us to move vehicles that are randomly parked in the middle of the streets into a designated, orderly parking area. With this initiative, we will address Erzene’s longstanding parking problem and free local streets from obstructing vehicles, helping traffic flow more smoothly. We wish the residents of Erzene all the best with this improvement.”
