Bornova Municipality Honors Its Martyrs

Martyr Gündüz Koçak Commemorated on the 31st Anniversary of His Death

Bornova Municipality continues to support commemoration programs by responding to requests from the families of martyrs. Within this scope, food and catering vehicle support were provided for the memorial service of Commando Private Gündüz Koçak, who was martyred in Uludere, Şırnak, on September 5, 1994. The ceremony took place at Doğanlar Central Mosque. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that keeping the memory of martyrs alive and standing by their families is an honor for Bornova.

Despite the passing years, Bornova Municipality continues to support remembrance events and memorial prayers organized by the families of martyrs. Through the Social Assistance Affairs Directorate, services such as beverage catering vehicles and traditional meals like chickpeas and rice are provided during these occasions.

One such support was given for the commemoration of Martyr Commando Private Gündüz Koçak, held on the 31st anniversary of his death at Doğanlar Central Mosque. In previous years, a park in Doğanlar was also named after him to honor his memory.
