Massive 140-square-meter stand attracts visitors

Bornova Municipality has started welcoming visitors with its highly popular stand at the 94th Izmir International Fair, which opened its doors once again this year. The fair, running from August 29 to September 9, features Bornova Municipality’s impressive 140-square-meter stand located next to the Cascade Pool, which quickly became a center of attention from the very first day. Hosting a wide variety of activities ranging from health to art and science, the stand offers something for everyone.

The stand highlights the district’s history and cultural richness with dance performances, quizzes, wellness, science, and art workshops, while the “From Waste to Value” section aims to raise awareness about recycling. Additionally, the Bornova Municipality’s Altın Bilezik Employment Office desk is accepting job applications for companies.

Mini golf fun and 3D history
In line with this year’s “Culture and Economy” theme, visitors can learn about the contributions of the Levantines to Bornova’s economy and enjoy playing golf at a mini golf course that symbolizes Bornova, the place where golf was first played in Anatolia. At the fair, where values from Yeşilova Mound to Belkahve, Levantine Mansions to the world-renowned poet Homer are presented, visitors also get the chance to experience life from 8,500 years ago in Yeşilova through 3D glasses.

Health services at the Bornova stand
At the stand, dietitians and physiotherapists from Bornova Municipality’s Department of Health Affairs provide guidance on healthy living, while Izmir residents can also have their blood sugar and blood pressure measured.

Emphasizing the significance of the fair, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated:
“This year at our stand, we will share all of Bornova’s richness with our fellow citizens and visitors — from our history to our culture, from our economy to our social services. On August 30 Victory Day and September 9 Liberation of Izmir, we will also host special events and distribute Turkish flags to visitors. We invite everyone to join us at our stand.”
