Bornova Libraries Serve with 9,000 Members and 8 Branches

26,000 books meet hundreds of readers every day

Bornova Municipality operates 8 libraries that serve the public with over 9,000 members and more than 26,000 books, welcoming over 100 visitors daily. Citizens can easily become members with just an ID card, borrow up to 3 books for 15 days free of charge, and extend the loan period by phone. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the libraries are vital cultural breathing spaces in Bornova.

With over 26,000 books and 9,000 members, the 8 libraries established by Bornova Municipality offer free services to residents. Every day, more than 100 readers visit these libraries, where members can borrow up to three books for two weeks without any cost.

Easy Membership & Free Borrowing

To become a member, citizens only need to apply with their ID card and fill out a form. For those under 18, applications must be made by their parents. When the loan period expires, extensions can easily be made by calling 0232 999 29 29 – 2233.

Mayor Eşki: “Our libraries are the cultural lungs of Bornova”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the importance of the libraries, saying:
“Our libraries are not just places to borrow books; they are cultural breathing spaces where children, young people, and Bornovalı citizens of all ages come together. Our goal is to bring the scent of books to every neighborhood in Bornova. The increase in our membership and the strengthening of the reading habit brings us great joy.”
