Major steps taken for women, children, and education in the August Municipal Council

At its August session, the Bornova Municipal Council passed several important decisions supporting women, children, and gender equality. Key protocols approved included a cooperation agreement with BAYETAV, the Local Equality Action Plan, and a partnership to provide vocational courses for citizens. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the municipality's commitment to inclusive and participatory governance.

The August Ordinary Meeting of the Bornova Municipal Council was held at the Nevzat Kavalar Cultural Center Council Hall under the chairmanship of Mayor Ömer Eşki. The council discussed and voted on a wide range of protocols and action plans concerning social support for women and children, as well as access to education. The resolutions were approved either unanimously or by majority vote.

Strong partnership for women and children

A cooperation protocol between Bornova Municipality and BAYETAV (Living Together Education and Social Research Foundation) aims to deliver rights-based, inclusive, and sustainable services for women and children. Based on commission reports, the protocol was approved and is expected to enhance the district’s capacity for social support and education.

A strategic roadmap for gender equality

The “Bornova Municipality Local Equality Action Plan (LEAP)” was also approved by the council. This plan aims to integrate the principle of gender equality across all municipal services and strengthen institutional capacity in this area.

A joint step toward education and skills development

A protocol to be signed between Bornova Municipality and the Bornova District Directorate of National Education will facilitate the launch of vocational, cultural, and social courses for local residents. Approved unanimously by the council, the protocol aims to improve residents’ quality of life and expand employment opportunities.
