Bornova Municipality has launched a major campaign against illegal debris dumping to protect the cleanliness of the city and prevent environmental pollution. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that they will bring technology and community solidarity together for a cleaner Bornova. Emphasizing that the fight against those who pollute public spaces will continue with increased efforts, Mayor Eşki called on all Bornova residents and people of İzmir to support this environmental initiative.

“Citizens Have Responsibilities as Well as the Municipality”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, who inspected an illegal dumping site in the Evka-3 area and listened to residents’ complaints, emphasized the importance of a shared sense of responsibility. Mayor Eşki said:

“Just as the municipality has responsibilities and duties toward its citizens, our citizens also have responsibilities toward our municipality and this city. Supporting the municipality in preventing environmental problems before they occur, or as soon as they arise, is one of the fundamental responsibilities of every citizen. We have to protect this city together.”

Announcing that security measures will be strengthened to identify individuals and companies carrying out illegal dumping, Mayor Eşki said:

“As Bornova Municipality, we will monitor many locations with cameras to prevent vacant lots, roadsides, and our natural environment from being polluted. We will fight to the very end to track illegal dumping through our technological infrastructure. However, municipal enforcement measures and cameras alone are not enough. We invite you, our valued residents, to join this fight and contribute to this great spirit of solidarity.”
