Preparing for 2026 with 75,000 Saplings

Bornova Municipality is preparing parks and green spaces for 2026 by producing 75,000 shrub-type plants, 5,000 olive saplings, and thousands of ornamental plants with its own resources at its modern nursery in Pınarbaşı. Visiting the nursery, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that this in-house production—without external procurement—both ensures savings and aims to make Bornova a greener and more aesthetically pleasing city.

Bornova Municipality continues its work uninterrupted at the modern nursery operated by the Parks and Gardens Department in Pınarbaşı, producing plants under contemporary conditions to create a greener, more attractive, and more livable city in 2026. Municipal teams cultivate the plants used in parks, medians, and green areas entirely with municipal resources.

Tens of Thousands of Plants Being Prepared for Planting
At the nursery, where intensive production is ongoing, the following plants are being readied for planting in parks and landscaping projects: 30,000 lavender plants, 3,000 olive shrubs, 3,000 variegated oleanders, 3,000 golden euonymus, 3,000 Mexican petunias, 3,000 bottlebrush shrubs, 3,000 snowball viburnums, 3,000 yellow daisies, 3,500 pomegranate saplings, and 1,000 lemon cypress trees.

In addition to the shrub group plants totaling 75,000 units, 5,000 olive saplings are also in production. Strawberry seedlings are being grown especially for distribution to children, and with the 3,000 lavender seedlings produced, the municipality plans to establish lavender gardens at various locations across the district.

Mayor Ömer Eşki Visits the Nursery
Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the Pınarbaşı Nursery and received information from officials about the ongoing work. Emphasizing the importance of in-house production in Bornova’s green space policies, Mayor Eşki said:
“While strengthening Bornova’s green areas, we are protecting both nature and public resources. This production carried out by our Parks and Gardens Department with its own means is one of the most concrete examples of sustainable and cost-effective municipal governance. We are working to make Bornova a greener, more aesthetic, and more breathable city in 2026.”

No External Procurement—All Produced by the Municipality
Bornova Municipality carries out all production at the nursery with its own resources and does not purchase plants or saplings from outside. In this way, costs are reduced while urban aesthetics are strengthened in a planned and sustainable manner over the long term.
