Bornova Gives New Life to Agriculture
Comprehensive Support and Technical Guidance for Local Producers
Through its Department of Agricultural Services, Bornova Municipality is driving a sustainable transformation in agriculture by providing local producers with seeds, seedlings, beekeeping equipment, and continuous technical consultancy. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the initiative aims to strengthen local producers while ensuring uninterrupted access to healthy food for the community.
Bornova Municipality continues to stand by local producers as part of its commitment to promoting local development and sustainable agriculture. Through the comprehensive programs carried out by the Department of Agricultural Services, support extends beyond the distribution of seeds, seedlings, saplings, bees, beehives, and beekeeping equipment. Producers also receive continuous technical consultancy throughout the growing season. This integrated support model enables farmers to cultivate their land more efficiently and consciously while ensuring that consumers have direct access to healthy and reliable food.
Mayor Eşki: “Protecting Our Land and Producers Means Securing Our Future”
Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that agricultural support is vital to the local economy and highlighted the municipality’s determination to maximize Bornova’s agricultural potential.
“One of the most important pillars of our vision for a sustainable Bornova is local agriculture. We do not simply provide equipment to our farmers—we stand beside them in the fields and apiaries with scientific methods and expert guidance. Our goal is to ensure that producers receive the rewards of their hard work while providing our residents with healthy and reliable food. We will always continue to support everyone who protects and cultivates our land.”
Continuous Technical Training and Scientific Support from Fields to Apiaries
Agricultural engineers and expert teams employed by the municipality remain active in the field throughout the production season, offering professional consultancy in the following areas:
- Sustainable Farming Practices: Guidance on irrigation, fertilization, and proper soil cultivation techniques.
- Natural Crop Protection: Effective methods for combating plant diseases, pests, and weeds.
- Efficient Harvesting Techniques: Practical training to minimize crop losses during harvest.
- Beekeeping Support: Monitoring bee colonies, assessing floral resources, and applying modern methods to prevent bee diseases.
- Lavender Seedling Distribution: Providing lavender seedlings to beekeepers to enrich nectar and pollen resources.
