Mustafa Kemal Street and Central Marketplace Street are being renewed

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected the ongoing renovation works on Mustafa Kemal Street and the streets surrounding the Central Marketplace during a night shift, following the completion of infrastructure works by İZSU. Eşki stated that once completed, the area would gain a modern look with improved sidewalks, medians, and lighting. “Everything we do is for Bornova residents to travel more comfortably and safely,” he said.

After İZSU completed its infrastructure works, the municipality continued with asphalting, sidewalk, median, and landscaping improvements. Mayor Eşki visited the worksites at night, accompanied by the Deputy Mayor and municipal engineers. He closely followed the progress both on Mustafa Kemal Street and on 554th Street in front of the Bornova Central Marketplace, which connects to the main street.

“Traffic will ease, and the street will have a look worthy of Bornova”

During his night inspection, Mayor Ömer Eşki addressed Bornova residents with the following remarks:

“Dear Bornovalılar, we are currently on Central Marketplace Street. Together with our deputy mayor and site supervisor, we’re inspecting the work on-site. This street, which previously suffered from double parking and frequent traffic jams, will be completely transformed. It will have smooth sidewalks, a modern central median, and strong lighting.”

Eşki also noted that the second phase of asphalting on Mustafa Kemal Street is underway, adding that long-standing traffic issues in the area will soon be resolved:

“As of tonight, the traffic congestion on Mustafa Kemal Street will be a thing of the past. In about a month, both this street and the marketplace area will have a vibrant, well-lit, and modern appearance worthy of Bornova. Everything we do is for residents to travel more comfortably, safely, and conveniently. We set out with the belief that Bornova deserves the best, and we will continue to deliver only the best for our citizens.”

Modern urban design taking shape step by step

Following the completion of infrastructure works, Bornova Municipality teams are carrying out sidewalk, asphalt, and landscaping improvements simultaneously across various streets. The renewal of Mustafa Kemal Street and the Central Marketplace area will give the district a more modern and functional urban identity — enhancing both traffic flow and aesthetics.
