Mayor Eşki: “Our inspections will continue until we achieve 100% compliance.”

Bornova Municipality continues its bakery inspections without interruption to ensure that citizens have access to healthy, safe, and hygienic food. Municipal inspection teams, which have previously carried out checks in more than one hundred bakeries with the participation of Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki, recently conducted a comprehensive late-night inspection in the Yeşilova neighborhood.

During the inspections carried out by municipal police teams, 15 bakeries were thoroughly examined. Hygiene conditions in production areas, business licenses, and bread weight standards were checked one by one. Administrative penalties were imposed on businesses operating in violation of regulations, while hygiene-related deficiencies were reported to the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry.

Inspections Continued Until Dawn

Mayor Ömer Eşki personally joined the inspections aimed at ensuring that bread reaches citizens’ tables under healthy production conditions. He monitored the process on-site until the early hours of the morning, received information from inspection teams, and ensured that the inspections were conducted effectively and transparently.

Particular attention was paid to the cleanliness of production areas, employees’ compliance with hygiene rules, storage conditions, and product weight standards.

“We Are Beginning to See Positive Results”

Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the inspections are starting to yield positive outcomes and have created significant awareness among business owners.

Speaking during the inspection, Eşki said:

“This morning we were in the Çamdibi and Yeşilova areas conducting bakery inspections. In our earlier inspections, when we entered 15 bakeries, we could usually find only three or four that were operating cleanly and without issues. Now the situation has reversed. After two years of inspections, we are beginning to see positive results. This morning we inspected 15 bakeries, and only four had hygiene-related problems. The remaining bakeries were operating under clean and healthy conditions. We will continue our inspections until we achieve 100% success in this area.”

The Goal Is Not Punishment, but Protecting Public Health

Municipal officials emphasized that the primary purpose of the inspections is not to impose penalties but to improve hygiene standards in businesses and ensure citizens’ access to safe and reliable food.

Thanks to regular inspections, production quality and hygiene standards in bakeries throughout the district continue to improve.
