Strong Interest in Bornova Municipality at the Elderly Care and Healthy Aging Fair

Bornova Municipality attracted significant attention with its stand ներկայացing its health and social services at the Elderly Care and Healthy Aging Fair held at the Tepekule Congress and Exhibition Center. Over the course of three days, health screenings, informational sessions, and cultural events were organized, while a Turkish Classical Music concert performed by Bornova’s senior residents received great appreciation. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that they regard healthy aging as an integral part of social life.

The Elderly Care and Healthy Aging Fair and the Pan Geriatrics Symposium were held on February 5–7, 2026, at the Tepekule Congress and Exhibition Center. Bringing together experts in the field, local administrations, and citizens, the event featured Bornova Municipality with a joint stand by the Directorate of Health Affairs and the Directorate of Disability and Elderly Services.

Health and Social Services Introduced Under One Roof

At the Bornova Municipality stand, participants were provided with comprehensive information about services carried out by the Directorate of Health Affairs, including Home Care, Wound Dressing and Patient Care, Preventive Dental Health, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physical Therapy, Patient Transport Ambulance Services, and the Healthy Aging Center. Visitors were also informed about burial and funeral procedures.

The Directorate of Disability and Elderly Services, which was established recently, introduced its services such as Reproductive Health for Individuals with Disabilities, Baby and Child Care, Barber and Elderly Care Services, and Accessible Vehicle Services, while also presenting the activities of its Disability Unit.

Bornova’s Seniors Took the Stage

Throughout the three-day fair, events organized by Bornova Municipality drew considerable interest. A Turkish Classical Music concert performed by a choir composed of residents benefiting from the Healthy Aging Center was warmly received by visitors. Bornova’s senior citizens earned prolonged applause for their performance.

A movement training session conducted under the guidance of a physiotherapist also attracted strong participation, particularly among older adults.

Screenings Conducted, Health Awareness Raised

During the fair, citizens visiting the Bornova Municipality stand received blood glucose, blood pressure, and muscle measurements. Thanks to these health screenings, visitors were both informed and gained greater awareness of their individual health status.

Highlighting the importance of the fair, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated:

“Our elderly and disabled citizens are not statistics for us; they are the memory of this city and its most valuable assets. From home care to physical therapy, from cultural activities to social support, we work with a holistic service approach.”

Emphasizing Bornova’s vision in this field, Mayor Eşki added:

“With our Healthy Aging Center and our Directorate of Disability and Elderly Services, we are building a Bornova where no one is left behind. The strong interest we have seen at this fair is the clearest indication that we are on the right path.”
