Bornova Municipality is preparing to celebrate April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day with the Traditional Kite Festival to be held at Aşık Veysel Recreation Area. The festival, which will last all day, will offer unforgettable moments for children and their families. Mayor Ömer Eşki invited all children in Izmir to this colorful event.

A festive day full of fun and activities
As part of the festival, a wide range of activities—from workshops to stage performances—will be waiting for children. The program will begin with a concert by the Municipal Children’s Choir, followed by folk dance performances, puppet shows, and magic shows. Throughout the day, children will enjoy fun moments with Alp Abi, and the Bubble Show will provide a visual spectacle. Play areas, inflatable parks, face painting activities, and various treats will keep the festive spirit alive all day long.

Mayor Eşki’s invitation: “Let’s grow this joy together”
Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that April 23 is one of the most special days dedicated to children and invited all families to the festival.

Eşki stated:
“April 23 is one of the most meaningful days when our children can freely send their dreams into the sky. Their joy, energy, and hope give us strength. This year, we want to release our kites together and share this beautiful excitement. I invite all our children and their families to this colorful gathering.”

A traditional festival bringing Izmir together once again
The Traditional Kite Festival, which attracts great interest every year, will once again be one of the most vibrant addresses of the holiday in Bornova. Families will enjoy quality time together as the sky fills with colorful kites, celebrating the joyful and unifying spirit of April 23.
