Visit from Adıyaman University to the Ecological City Local Seed Center

The Regenerative Agriculture Practices Project Team from Adıyaman University visited Bornova Municipality’s Ecological City Local Seed Center to receive information on local seeds, biodiversity, urban gardens, and sustainable agriculture initiatives. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that regenerative agriculture is an approach that protects soil and life together, and highlighted the importance of cooperation with universities.

The Regenerative Agriculture Practices Project Team from Adıyaman University paid a visit to the Ecological City Local Seed Center, one of the key hubs of Bornova Municipality’s ecological agriculture and sustainable food policies. The delegation included Prof. Dr. Erhan Akça, Dr. Lecturer Ceren Bayram, Project Specialist Cihan Erdem, Osman Önder Altunbaş, and Mehmet Uçkun.

Bornova’s Vision for Ecological Agriculture Presented

During the visit, the project team was provided with comprehensive information about the activities of the Ecological City Local Seed Center, urban gardens, biodiversity projects, geographically indicated products, educational programs, and the initiatives carried out by the Directorate of Agricultural Services of Bornova Municipality.
Bornova’s efforts to protect, reproduce, and pass on local seeds to future generations, along with its practices centered on regenerative agriculture, were met with great interest by the academics.

Emphasis on Collaboration Between Science and Local Government

Hosted by Deputy Mayor of Bornova, Barbaros Taşer, the visit highlighted the importance of cooperation between universities and local governments in combating the climate crisis, protecting soil health, and ensuring sustainable agricultural production.
