A partnership empowering youth in Bornova

26 April 2026

Bornova Municipality and Sayra Çınar Foundation join forces

A cooperation protocol has been signed between Bornova Municipality and the Sayra Çınar Foundation, named after twin siblings who lost their lives in the İzmir earthquake. The protocol aims to strengthen social, educational, and psychosocial support programs for children and young people aged 0–25.

Signed by Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki and Sayra Çınar Foundation Chairwoman Tülin Batmaz, the protocol expands the scope of previously initiated joint efforts. Within this framework, social, cultural, educational, and psychosocial support activities for individuals aged 0–25 living in Bornova will be increased. A wide range of initiatives—from workshops and seminars to creative drama and volunteer projects—will be implemented to support the development of children and youth.

“We are investing in the future of our youth”
Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of the collaboration, stating that supporting the multidimensional development of young people is one of the key responsibilities of local governments. He noted that through this protocol, children and youth in the district will have access to more opportunities and will be supported in safe social environments.

“A rights-based and inclusive approach”
Tülin Batmaz, Chairwoman of the Sayra Çınar Foundation, stated that all activities will be grounded in children’s rights and human rights. She added, “Our goal is to create safe and inclusive spaces where children and young people can express themselves. Through this collaboration, we will reach more young individuals.”

One-year protocol with long-term goals
The protocol, valid for one year, can be extended upon mutual agreement. Within the collaboration, the municipality will provide physical spaces and logistical support, while the foundation will take an active role in the field with its expert team and volunteers. All activities will be free of charge and regularly monitored through reporting.

This strong partnership aims to contribute to raising healthier, more conscious, and active young individuals in Bornova.
