Free Educational Support for 2,000 Students from Bornova Municipality

BELGEM, Bornova Municipality’s youth education center offering free educational support, will begin the 2025–2026 academic year with an accelerated program. The center, expected to serve 2,000 students, provides all learning materials free of charge along with guidance counseling and practice exams. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that ensuring equal opportunities in education remains a top priority.

For years, Bornova Municipality’s Youth Education Center (BELGEM) has provided free academic support to students. Entering the 2025–2026 school year, BELGEM is launching with an accelerated program specifically designed for YKS and LYS exam groups. As part of this program, students will attend a total of 40 hours of classes—every weekday from 09:00 to 12:00 over two weeks. Regular scheduling will begin on September 8 with the opening of schools, at which point all grade levels will start their lessons. As in previous years, BELGEM will remain closed on Sundays and Mondays.

Education from Primary to Graduates
BELGEM offers English lessons for 4th and 5th graders, while students in grades 6 through 12, as well as graduates, receive instruction across all subjects. This year, 1,800 students have already enrolled, and with additional capacity, the total is expected to reach 2,000.

Free Resources, Practice Exams, and Counseling
All educational materials are provided free of charge, and monthly practice exams are organized at regular intervals. Students also benefit from one-on-one counseling sessions, particularly tailored for exam preparation groups. BELGEM is available exclusively to students who either reside in Bornova or study at schools within the district.

A Strong Team of 55
BELGEM’s staff includes 46 teachers and 3 administrators, supported by 2 cleaning staff, 2 security guards, and 2 cafeteria workers. For the first time this year, a cafeteria service has been introduced for students.
