“Health Support Card” Launched in Bornova
A project offering discounts of up to 50% in private healthcare services

Bornova Municipality has launched the “Health Support Card,” a new initiative that enables citizens to benefit from private healthcare services with discounts ranging from 10% to 50%. The project, implemented through a protocol signed at Dramalılar Mansion, aims to facilitate access to healthcare services. Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that healthcare services should ideally be provided free of charge by the state and described the initiative as an important step in socially oriented municipal governance, accessible to all residents of Bornova.

As part of its social municipal approach, Bornova Municipality has introduced another significant project in the field of healthcare. The protocol for the “Health Support Card,” which allows citizens to access private healthcare institutions at discounted rates, was signed during a ceremony held at Dramalılar Mansion. The project aims to make healthcare services more accessible and affordable for residents.

“Access to healthcare is the most important indicator of development”

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the importance of access to healthcare services:
“April 7 is World Health Day… Today, we are implementing an initiative in line with the spirit of World Health Day. One of the common characteristics of developed countries is that healthcare expenditures are not excessively high. Being able to receive medical support and treatment from doctors and hospitals is directly related to a country’s level of development.”

“Bornova has been a pioneer and a model for Turkey”

Mayor Eşki recalled that Bornova Municipality has previously implemented pioneering healthcare projects, noting that the Home Care Service for the Elderly was first introduced in Turkey in Bornova:
“During the term of Prof. Dr. Kamil Okyay Sındır, Bornova Municipality became the first institution in Turkey to implement home care services for the elderly. This service was later expanded nationwide by the Ministry of Health and is now applied in many institutions.”

Regarding the new project, Eşki stated:
“This is a project we developed to ensure that our citizens can access healthcare services from private institutions more easily. With the Health Support Card, our citizens will be able to receive more affordable and accessible healthcare services. I would like to thank all our colleagues and partner institutions who contributed to this project. This is a meaningful step against the harsh conditions created by economic realities. I hope this initiative spreads throughout Turkey, and one day we can establish a system where healthcare services are completely free.”

Discounts ranging from 10% to 50%

With the new system, residents of Bornova will benefit from discounts starting at 10% and reaching up to 50% for examinations, diagnostic tests, and treatment services at contracted private healthcare institutions.

With the Health Support Card initiative, Bornova Municipality aims to improve access to healthcare services, increase opportunities for early diagnosis and treatment, and strengthen public health. The project is expected to enhance citizen satisfaction by reinforcing socially oriented support mechanisms.
