A Neighborhood-by-Neighborhood Cleaning Campaign in Bornova

11 March 2026

Working with the goal of creating a cleaner and more livable city, the Bornova Municipality has launched detailed cleaning operations across neighborhoods. In Mevlana Neighborhood, streets were swept from end to end, branches left behind after pruning and strong winds were collected, and waste containers were washed and repainted on site.

To make environmental cleanliness more effective across the district, Bornova Municipality initiated a comprehensive neighborhood cleaning program. The first stop of the initiative was Mevlana Neighborhood.

Teams from the Cleaning Affairs Directorate carried out a detailed cleaning operation on all streets in the neighborhood. As part of the work, the number of street sweepers was increased and each street was carefully swept while cleaning vehicles supported the operation. In this way, waste accumulated on streets and avenues was quickly collected and environmental order was restored.

Discarded branches collected

The cleaning campaign addressed not only daily waste but also branches that had accumulated after pruning and strong winds. The collected branches were sorted and sent for recycling and will be processed into fertilizer.

Containers washed and repainted

As part of the effort, waste containers in the neighborhood were washed and disinfected on site. Containers that had become worn through use were also repainted, giving them a cleaner and more orderly appearance.

Mayor Eşki: “Cleanliness is part of quality of life”

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki stated that the comprehensive cleaning initiative launched in the neighborhoods will be expanded throughout the district.

“Our teams are working intensively in the field to create a clean, healthy, and orderly environment in Bornova. In our neighborhoods, we are carrying out not only routine cleaning but also detailed cleaning operations. We will continue these efforts periodically in all of our neighborhoods,” he said.

The detailed cleaning program initiated by Bornova Municipality will continue in other neighborhoods at regular intervals.
