A Bridge of Care and Support for Our Elders with the “Health Support Card”

Bornova Municipality has signed a major cooperation protocol with nursing homes and elderly care centers across İzmir, extending its efforts beyond the district’s borders. Under the “Health Support Card” initiative, which is being implemented as part of the historic protocol, elderly residents of Bornova will be able to benefit from special discounts of up to 20% at participating private care centers. Emphasizing that nursing home and elderly care services have become a fundamental need today, Mayor Ömer Eşki thanked all investors and sector professionals who have stepped up and supported citizens during this challenging period.

Bornova Municipality has taken a new step in its Health Support Card project, launched with a sense of social responsibility to facilitate access for district residents to preventive, protective and developmental healthcare services. During an official ceremony, the first signatures were placed by Mayor Ömer Eşki and representatives of nursing homes and elderly care centers following the approval of the Bornova Municipal Council. Under the one-year cooperation protocol, Bornova Municipality will manage the application process, determine cardholders, and operate data security and inspection mechanisms.

Mayor Eşki: “Our investors have stood by us during this difficult period”

Speaking at the protocol signing ceremony, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki announced that the project has expanded beyond Bornova to include institutions in different districts of İzmir, including Çiğli, Karabağlar and Bayraklı.

Mayor Eşki said:

“Dear residents of İzmir, as Bornova Municipality, we are expanding the Health Support Card project that we recently launched with the participation of our valued institutions. Today, we have established this meaningful solidarity network not only in Bornova, but also with numerous nursing homes and elderly care centers across İzmir, from Çiğli to Karabağlar. Nursing homes and care centers have now become one of the most fundamental human needs at a time when families are increasingly struggling to provide care at home due to economic and social circumstances. Through this initiative addressing such a vital need at the heart of life, we aim to ease, even if only slightly, the burden on our citizens. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to all our investors who have supported us and stood by our side, as well as everyone who works day and night in this important sector.”

Representatives of private nursing homes and elderly care centers who attended the signing ceremony expressed their happiness at taking part in the social responsibility initiative launched by Bornova Municipality during a financially challenging period.
