No More Racing Against Time for Emergency Access to Türkan Özilhan State Hospital

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki inspected simultaneous asphalt, concrete, and pavement works in the Altındağ and Pınarbaşı neighborhoods, including a newly opened road that enables faster ambulance access to Türkan Özilhan State Hospital. Emphasizing the critical importance of the new road for timely access to healthcare, Mayor Eşki highlighted its life-saving potential.

Thanks to the newly constructed road leading directly to the hospital, the travel time for ambulances and other vehicles has been significantly reduced. This improvement puts an end to the race against time in emergency healthcare services. Meanwhile, road resurfacing efforts have gained momentum in parts of the district previously known for having the worst roads. Mayor Eşki stressed that efforts to ensure safe and high-quality transportation across all parts of Bornova will continue with determination.

A New Road That Saves Minutes—and Lives

Commenting on the new roadwork in front of Türkan Özilhan State Hospital, formerly known as the “Traffic Hospital,” Mayor Eşki stated that a vital transportation improvement had been achieved:

“As you know, ambulances and other vehicles used to access the hospital via the Doğanlar Junction. We’ve now bypassed that and created a direct route to the hospital. This saves over 10 minutes for many vehicles. In addition, the new road will ease traffic in the 4th Industrial Site and the nearby school district. We’ve initiated a process that will bring relief to Bornova’s traffic,” he said.

From the Worst Roads to the Finest Streets

Mayor Eşki noted that the infrastructure mobilization in Bornova is advancing on three fronts:

“While we’ve added a new road to Türkan Özilhan State Hospital, we’re also continuing renovation efforts on Pınar Street in Pınarbaşı. The third focal point is Altındağ Merkez Neighborhood, home to some of Bornova’s worst roads. Based on the priorities set by our local muhtar (neighborhood head), we’re conducting intensive concrete paving efforts street by street. We are committed to delivering the best possible streets and smooth transportation access in every part of Bornova,” he said.

The inspections in Altındağ Merkez, where steep slopes are being concreted, as well as the asphalt paving and sidewalk improvements near Türkan Özilhan State Hospital and road renovations in Pınarbaşı, were joined by municipal officials and neighborhood muhtars alongside Mayor Eşki.
