ZMO Genç Plants 120 Stone Pine Saplings in Bornova

Bornova Municipality, in collaboration with the Youth Branch of the Izmir Chamber of Agricultural Engineers (ZMO Genç), planted 120 stone pine saplings across an 8,000-square-meter area in Kemalpaşa Neighborhood. Guided by the Park and Gardens Directorate teams, students experienced the joy of contributing to nature. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized, “Every sapling is a hope planted for the future.”

Bornova Municipality and the Izmir ZMO Genç team came together for a meaningful environmental initiative. During the event, students planted saplings with their own hands and gave them their first water, symbolically breathing life into nature.

The participating students expressed their happiness in being part of an environmentally conscious project, especially in the face of increasing forest fires in recent years. They said that being able to contribute directly to nature in their own city — not only theoretically but also through hands-on experience — was deeply meaningful and motivating.

Bornova Deputy Mayor Barbaros Taşer, who joined the students in planting, highlighted the importance of youth involvement and environmental awareness:

“We are determined to increase Bornova’s green spaces and build a city in harmony with nature. Each sapling we plant is not just a tree — it’s a symbol of hope for the future of Bornova, İzmir, and our country. We are proud to nurture this hope together with young people who are guided by science.”

Bornova Municipality’s reforestation efforts, carried out under its sustainable environment policies, are expanding the city’s green spaces while strengthening community participation.
