Two Full Weeks on Stage and Screen

Bornova Municipality is preparing a lively midterm break program for children and young people, starting on January 19. Over the course of two weeks, theater performances and Film Club events will take place at various locations across the district. In addition to children’s plays staged throughout the program, the Bornova Municipality Film Office will bring together children interested in cinema through hands-on workshops. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized the importance of children spending their holidays immersed in art and creativity.

Bornova Municipality has put together a rich cultural and artistic program for children and youth during the 2025–2026 academic year midterm break. From January 19 onward, for two weeks, children’s theater plays will be staged free of charge at cultural centers across the district, while the Film Club organized by the Bornova Municipality Film Office will introduce children to the magical world of cinema.

Commenting on the program, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki said:
“We want our children to spend their holiday not only resting, but also engaging with art, imagination, and sharing. Ensuring equal access to culture and the arts for every child in Bornova is one of our most important goals.”

The Theater Stage Belongs to Children During the Break

Throughout the midterm break, children’s theater plays prepared around different themes will be staged free of charge at 14:00 in Bornova’s cultural centers:

• January 19, 2026 – The Forest of Happiness
  Mevlana Community and Science Center (Prof. Dr. Abdullah Kızılırmak Theater Stage)

• January 21, 2026 – The Child Who Talks to the Wind
  Naldöken Cultural Center

• January 22, 2026 – The Vitamin Kingdom
  Çamdibi Martyr Er Adem Bilaloğlu Social Facilities (Nedret Güvenç Theater Stage)

• January 26, 2026 – The Farm of Love
  Dr. Sırrı Aydoğan Cultural Center

• January 28, 2026 – The Tailed Heroes
  Altındağ Atatürk Civil Society Organizations Campus (Yıldız Kenter Stage)

• January 30, 2026 – Long Live Peace
  Uğur Mumcu Cultural and Arts Center

A Journey into the Kitchen of Cinema with the Film Club

The Midterm Break Film Club, organized by the Bornova Municipality Film Office (BBFO), will introduce children interested in cinema to the basic concepts of filmmaking and behind-the-scenes production. Workshops will be held in two separate periods according to age group:

• January 21–22–23, 2026 | 14:00 – 16:30
  (Ages 9–11 | Quota: 12 participants)

• January 28–29–30, 2026 | 14:00 – 16:30
  (Ages 12–14 | Quota: 12 participants)
