Ayşe Müjgan Pakyürek, Mukhtar of Erzene Neighborhood, laid to rest

Ayşe Müjgan Pakyürek, the 27-year mukhtar of Erzene Neighborhood, passed away at the age of 63 in the hospital where she was receiving cancer treatment. The last representative of a three-generation mukhtar tradition, Pakyürek was buried in Bornova Yeni Cemetery following the funeral prayer held at Bornova Büyük Mosque.

Erzene Neighborhood is mourning the loss of its long-serving mukhtar, who left a deep mark with her years of service. Pakyürek, who had successfully continued the duty first carried out by her grandfather and then by her father, was beloved and respected by the community.

A legacy of service spanning three generations

Pakyürek, who passed away at 63, represented the final link in a chain of public service extending across three generations in Erzene. Throughout her tenure, she was known for strengthening solidarity, trust, and the culture of neighborliness in the community.

A heartfelt farewell

Following the funeral prayer held at Bornova Büyük Mosque, Ayşe Müjgan Pakyürek was laid to rest in Bornova Yeni Cemetery. Many figures from Bornova and İzmir’s political circles, public institutions, and civil society attended the ceremony to pay their final respects.
