Izmir’s First Lavender Park Is on the Way

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki visited the Bornova Municipality Directorate of Parks and Gardens nursery in Pınarbaşı early in the morning to inspect the ongoing work on site. Stating that they aim to provide the people of Bornova with a more livable and breathable city, Mayor Eşki announced that a 7-decare vacant area in Mevlana Neighborhood will soon be transformed into a stunning lavender park, turning shades of purple.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki began his day by meeting with his colleagues at the nursery in Pınarbaşı. Receiving detailed information from the relevant unit supervisors about the production processes, Eşki inspected the lavender plants being prepared for planting. Emphasizing that they will increase production to strengthen Bornova’s green infrastructure, Eşki instructed municipal teams to accelerate projects through his on-site inspections.

Vacant Land Along Ankara Boulevard to Be Put to Use

The 7-decare plot located in Mevlana Neighborhood, right next to Ankara Boulevard and currently used as an empty soil dumping area, will become a new attraction in the city with the efforts of Bornova Municipality. Mayor Eşki stated that the lavender plants grown at the nursery will be planted once the weather cools down in November, saying:

“We will transform this area, where soil is currently dumped, into a true garden paradise. Around this time next year, this place will host an incredible explosion of color.”

A Favorite Photo Spot for Newlyweds

The project, which will be Izmir’s first lavender park, has been designed not only as a green space but also as a social area that will contribute to the city’s aesthetic appeal. Mayor Eşki said the park would serve as a natural photo studio where newlywed couples could capture their happiest moments. Inviting all residents of Izmir to the park in advance, he said:

“I am sure many people will come here to breathe, relax, and never want to leave. I would like to thank all my colleagues for their invaluable efforts for Bornova.”
