A Science-Filled Term Concluded at the Mevlana Community and Science Center

A Certificate of Participation Ceremony was held for 179 students who successfully completed the Science Clubs and Winter Science Camp programs organized at the Mevlana Community and Science Center by Bornova Municipality. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that the academically structured and practice-oriented programs have increased children’s interest in science and that their goal is to spread science into every aspect of life in Bornova.

Students who successfully completed the Fall Term Science Clubs and the Winter Science Camp: Science in the Kitchen programs received their certificates at the ceremony. The programs, designed on an academic foundation and delivered through engaging and hands-on content, attracted significant interest.

Strong Interest in the Science Clubs

As part of the Fall Term Science Clubs held between October 13 and December 21, 2025, workshops were conducted in various fields ranging from astronomy to biology, physics to mathematics, technology to paleontology.

Out of 206 applicants, 143 students qualified to receive certificates.

Science Moved into the Kitchen During the Winter Camp

At the Winter Science Camp: Science in the Kitchen event, held between January 27 and 30, 2026, 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students connected scientific knowledge with everyday life.

Among 57 applicants, 36 students earned certificates.

Mayor Eşki: “We Bring Science into Everyday Life”

Speaking at the ceremony, Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted the importance of introducing science to children at an early age:

“We act with an understanding that integrates science not only into textbooks but into every area of life. At our Mevlana Community and Science Center, we prioritize raising children and young people as inquisitive, productive, and thoughtful individuals. We will continue to expand the light of science in Bornova.”

Science Became the Address of Learning Through Fun

Enriched with laboratory experiments, modeling activities, drama workshops, presentations, and field trips, the programs increased students’ interest in science while making learning both lasting and enjoyable.
