The 6th Book Days concluded with three inspiring figures

Tamer Levent, Pelin Batu, and Yusuf Kurt inspire audiences

At the finale of this year’s 6th Book Days organized by Bornova Municipality, actor Tamer Levent, writer Pelin Batu, and former Solo Türk pilot Yusuf Kurt took the stage. Enriched with talks, book signings, workshops, and special events for children and women, Book Days ended in an atmosphere filled with culture and art.

Bornova Book Days, organized for the 6th time by Bornova Municipality, brought together book lovers in Büyükpark for 10 days. Becoming one of Turkey’s longest-running literary events, the festival hosted 463 authors and 63 publishing houses. On the last two days, actor Tamer Levent, writer Pelin Batu, and former Solo Türk pilot Yusuf Kurt met with great interest from the audience.

“Say yes to art, and work with care”

During his talk titled “Say Yes to Art” on Saturday at the Homeros Stage, actor Tamer Levent inspired the audience by saying: “Whatever job you do, make sure you do it with care.” The same day, Pelin Batu’s talk turned into a colorful evening with poems, stories, and songs performed with Haluk Çetin’s guitar.

Flying or driving a car?

On Sunday, former Solo Türk pilot and writer Yusuf Kurt shared his passion for flying: “Imagination is everything. I did my job with great joy and pride.” Answering questions from the audience, Kurt drew laughter when he remarked that flying a plane is actually easier than driving a car.

10 days of culture, art, and life

Held between September 26 and October 5, Book Days also hosted renowned authors such as İlber Ortaylı, Sunay Akın, and Buket Uzuner. Alongside book signings, talks, panels, conferences, and poetry recitals, the event featured yoga, pilates, and cooking workshops for women, as well as puppet shows, mind games, crafts, painting, photography, and storytelling workshops for children.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that Book Days has become an essential part of Bornova’s cultural identity, saying:
“Book Days is not just a fair; it is a meeting point for ideas, emotions, art, and life. Bornova breathes with books, art, and thought. This gathering strengthens the cultural energy of our city.”
