Old ones are being renewed, waste is being recycled

Bornova Municipality has begun deploying 1,000 new waste containers across the district to improve cleaning services. While the old containers are repaired and reused, those that are beyond repair are sent to MKE Inc. facilities for recycling. Mayor Ömer Eşki emphasized that their goal is to create a cleaner and more sustainable Bornova.

To enhance the quality of sanitation services throughout the city, Bornova Municipality is renewing its waste container network. As part of this effort, 1,000 new containers have been purchased, numbered, and placed to replace the older ones.

The old containers are being repaired and repainted at the Bornova Municipality Cleaning Services Directorate Workshop and then reallocated to industrial areas or neighborhoods in need. Containers that cannot be repaired are classified as scrap and sent to Machinery and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE Inc.) facilities for recycling.

Clean, Healthy, and Sustainable Bornova

Bornova Municipality currently collects household waste using 10,000 containers across the district and plans to renew an additional 2,000 containers in 2026. This initiative aims to prevent environmental pollution and establish a more organized waste collection system.

Bornova Mayor Ömer Eşki highlighted that sanitation services are one of the fundamental elements of modern urban life:

“We are working to create a cleaner and healthier environment in every neighborhood of Bornova. With our new containers, we are eliminating visual pollution while contributing to recycling efforts. Our goal is to build a sustainable and modern Bornova that uses its resources efficiently.”
